A getaway from Abu Dhabi - Jannah Resort & Villas, Ras Al Khaimah

There is something alluring about the Northern Emirates. Personally, I like the town-feel of places like Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. No skyscrapers. No traffic. Warm and friendly atmosphere. With the opening of Jannah Resort &Villas in Ras Al Khaimah, my daughter and I had an opportunity to take a road trip up north not only to enjoy this latest hotel by Abu Dhabi-based Jannah Hotels and Resorts, but also to the cleaner air in what is the UAE's fastest growing tourist destination.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in this all-suite hotel, which incidentally also offers 3-5 bedroom villas on the seafront. our one bedroom suite apartment was more than big enough for the two of us, and with a fully functioning kitchen, it felt like a place we could spend a week.

One of the innovations that Jannah Hotels and Resorts is bringing to its hotels is the genuine butler concept known as Karim - their butler service designed to make your stay that much more comfortable and convenient. My daughter and I looked at the in-house brochure and out them to the test. I called them and asked for our luggage to be unpacked and sorted. Done.  Well done, actually.

That evening I requested them to run a bath for my daughter and to create some towel art. Two staff members were up soon enough and went to work. The end result was just wonderful and my daughter was beside herself. It occurred to me that while a few hotels promote their butler service, sometimes, it never quite reaches the level of what we experienced here.

Towel art that had my daughter reaching for her camera - created by the Karim team.

Thanks to the Karim team for making this young traveller very happy and giving her a memory to treasure.

Within walking distance from the hotel are a number of food outlets and shops, including a Choitrams, very useful for long term guests. For dinner,  we ordered from a  Korean restaurant and for breakfast, we tried a little bistro. I like that we have these options and it all makes for a nice change from hotel dining.

For the weekend that we were there, it was bitterly cold, so while the hotel has a swimming pool, we chose to walk on the beach instead. The beach was a real bonus - what a pleasure it was walking on a deserted beach!

A mere three hours from Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah is a wonderful option to get out of the city. Jannah Resort & Villas, with its ample space, open beach and conveniently located shops, is such a  good option for that getaway. Also, with its home-away-from feel, it gives you the convenience and comfort of a hotel without the feeling of being in a hotel.
